New Update: Service Account Authentication for Easier Google Sheets Connection

We’re excited to share that GSheetConnector Addon Plugins now support a new authentication method – Service Account Integration. 🎉

This update makes it easier, faster, and more reliable to connect your WordPress site with Google Sheets, whether you’re using our plugins for forms or eCommerce data.

Background: Why a New Authentication Method?

Until now, our plugins offered two main ways to authenticate with Google Sheets:

1. Existing Authentication (FREE version)

  • In the free version of the plugins, we provide a pre-configured authentication method.
  • All users connect through the same Google Project.
  • This works well for small to medium sites, but it comes with one limitation — Google’s quota limit of 300 requests per minute per project (Google API Quotas Reference).
  • As more users connect to the same project, there’s a higher chance of hitting this limit.

2. Manual Authentication (PRO version)

  • To address the quota limit, we launched Manual Authentication in the Pro version.
  • With this method, users create their own Google Cloud Project from their email and configure it as shown in our docs.
  • Since the project is unique to each user and used on a single site, there are no quota conflicts.
  • This method works perfectly with Google Workspace (organization emails), as no app verification is required.
  • However, for personal Gmail accounts, users reported issues because Google requires the app to be verified, which can take extra time and effort.

The Solution: Service Account Authentication (PRO version)

To simplify things further, we’re now introducing Service Account Integration in the Pro version of our plugins.

With this method:

  • ✅ No need for user-facing app verification.
  • ✅ Works seamlessly for both Workspace and personal Gmail accounts.
  • ✅ Easy to configure — just upload a Service Account JSON file and you’re ready.
  • ✅ Reliable for agencies, multisite users, and businesses handling multiple integrations.
  • ✅ Scalable — you can run it without worrying about quota conflicts, since it uses your own project.

Which Authentication Method Should You Use?

🔹 Existing Authentication (FREE Version)

Best for:

  • Small sites with low traffic
  • Users who want a quick and simple setup
  • Non-technical users who don’t want to create a Google Cloud project

Note: Higher chance of hitting quota limits since all free users share the same project.

🔹 Manual Authentication (PRO Version)

Best for:

  • Users with Google Workspace accounts (organization email IDs)
  • Sites that require a dedicated Google Project to avoid quota limits
  • Advanced users comfortable creating and managing Google Cloud Projects

Note: Works best with Workspace accounts. For personal Gmail accounts, verification is required and may delay setup.

🔹 Service Account Authentication (PRO Version – NEW)

Best for:

  • Agencies managing multiple sites and clients
  • Developers who want quick and secure setup
  • Users with personal Gmail accounts who faced verification issues with Manual Authentication
  • Businesses that want a simple, scalable, and quota-free solution
