Role Setting

The Role Settings section in the GSheetConnector WP Core plugin allows you to control which WordPress user roles can access and manage the plugin menu. This ensures better security and prevents unauthorized users from modifying sync settings or feed configurations.

This guide explains each option in detail, fully optimized for SEO and documentation.

1. What Are Role Settings?

Role Settings let you choose which WordPress user roles should have permission to:

  • View the GSheetConnector plugin menu
  • Create and manage feeds
  • Edit sync and API settings
  • Access Google Sheet configuration
  • View debug logs and system status

By default, only Administrators have full access.

2. Accessing Role Settings

  1. Go to the WordPress Dashboard
  2. Navigate to GSheetConnector → Settings → Role Settings

You will see a list of all WordPress roles with checkboxes.

3. Roles That Can Access the GSheetConnector Menu

You can allow access for any of the following roles:

✔ Administrator (Recommended)

  • Full access to all plugin features
  • Can manage feeds, settings, API integration, logs, and all configurations
  • Usually the site owner or super admin

□ Editor

  • Can manage posts and pages
  • Can access plugin settings only if enabled
  • Useful for content managers who export data

□ Author

  • Can publish and manage their own posts
  • Enable only if authors require access to sheet sync features

□ Contributor

  • Can write but cannot publish posts
  • Not recommended unless necessary

□ Subscriber

  • Basic user role with very limited permissions
  • Not recommended for plugin access

Security Tip: Avoid granting plugin access to lower-level roles unless absolutely required. Restricting access helps protect API keys, sheet data, and feed configurations.

4. How to Enable or Disable Access

  1. Check the box next to the roles you want to allow.
  2. Leave unchecked for roles you want to restrict.
  3. Click the green Save button to apply changes.

Your role permissions will be updated instantly.

5. Why Role Management Matters

  • Improves security by limiting access to trusted users
  • Prevents accidental changes by non-technical team members
  • Supports team workflows — editors or managers can manage syncs without admin access
  • Protects sensitive data like API credentials and logs

6. Summary

The Role Settings in GSheetConnector WP Core give you complete control over who can access plugin features. You can easily grant or restrict access to roles such as:

  • Administrators
  • Editors
  • Authors
  • Contributors
  • Subscribers

This ensures secure, organized, and controlled usage of the plugin in multi-user WordPress environments.
