Existing Method Guide

The Existing Method provides the easiest way to connect GSheetConnector for WP Core with Google Sheets. Using this method, you can authenticate directly with your Google account without creating a Google Cloud Project or manually configuring API credentials.

Once connected, your WordPress Posts, Pages, Users, and Comments will automatically be sent to your selected Google Spreadsheet in real time.

The Existing Method uses Google’s secure authentication process to connect your website with Google Sheets.

Step 1: Select Existing Method

Navigate to the Google API Settings page and select the Existing Client / Secret Key (Auto Setup) option from the authentication method dropdown.

  1. Open your WordPress Dashboard.
  2. Navigate to GSheetConnector.
  3. Open the Integration tab.
  4. Select Existing Client / Secret Key (Auto Setup).
  5. Click Save.

Step 2: Connect Your Google Account

After saving the authentication method, scroll down to the Google Account Connection section.

Click the Sign in with Google button to begin the authentication process.

  1. Locate the Connect Your Google Account section.
  2. Click Sign in with Google.
  3. Choose the Google account that owns your spreadsheets.
  4. Continue to Google’s authentication screen.

Step 3: Authorize Google Permissions

Google will display a permission screen requesting access to your Google account.

These permissions allow the plugin to create, read, update, and synchronize spreadsheet data generated from your WordPress Posts, Pages, Users, and Comments.

  1. Select your Google account.
  2. Review the requested permissions.
  3. Click Continue.
  4. Allow access to Google Sheets and Google Drive.

Step 4: Verify Google Account Connection

After successful authentication, your Google account will be connected automatically.

The plugin will display:

  • Connected Google account information.

  • Verify Google Sheets API is enabled.
  • Verify Google Drive API is enabled.

What should I do if I see the error: "The site is experiencing technical difficulties. Please check your site admin email inbox for instructions"?

This error usually occurs when there is an issue with Google authentication or API configuration.

To resolve this issue:

  1. Navigate to the Google API Settings page.
  2. Revoke the existing Google authentication token.
  3. Reconnect your Google account.
  4. Verify that the Google Drive API is enabled.
  5. Check your WordPress admin email inbox for additional error details.

What should I do if the Google Sheets API limit has been reached?

Google enforces API quotas to prevent excessive usage. If your website exceeds the allowed quota, synchronization may temporarily stop working.

Review your Google API usage and quota settings. If necessary, wait for the quota reset or request a quota increase through Google Cloud Console.

What should I do if I see the message: "This app is not verified"?

Google may display a warning message stating:

“This app isn’t verified. This app hasn’t been verified by Google yet.”

This message is common when using a custom Google Cloud Project and does not necessarily indicate a security issue.

To continue:

  1. Click Advanced.
  2. Click Proceed.
  3. Continue the Google authentication process.

What should I do if I receive a 403 Error during authentication?

A 403 error generally indicates that Google denied access during authentication.

Common reasons include:

  • Required permissions were not granted.
  • The OAuth consent screen is not configured correctly.
  • The application is still in testing mode.
  • The application has not been published.

To resolve this issue:

  1. Ensure all requested permissions are allowed.
  2. Verify the OAuth consent screen settings.
  3. Publish the Google application if required.
  4. Reconnect your Google account and try again.

How do I fix the error: Range exceeds grid limits?

You may encounter an error similar to:

Range (‘Posts’!A2302) exceeds grid limits. Max rows: 2301, max columns: 45.

This error occurs when your Google Spreadsheet has reached its current row limit.

To resolve this issue:

  1. Open the affected Google Spreadsheet.
  2. Scroll to the bottom of the worksheet.
  3. Add additional rows.
  4. We recommend adding at least 2,000 new rows.
  5. Save the spreadsheet and test another sync.
