How to Create a Google Service Account for JetFormBuilder Google Sheet Connector PRO
To connect JetFormBuilder Google Sheet Connector PRO with Google Sheets using the Service Account authentication method, you need to create a Google Service Account from the Google Cloud Console.
A Google Service Account works as a secure bridge between your website and Google services. It allows JetFormBuilder Google Sheet Connector PRO to send JetFormBuilder form submissions directly to Google Sheets, without asking anyone to log in with a personal Google account every time.
Before creating a Service Account, make sure you have completed the required Google Cloud setup and enabled the necessary APIs. If you haven’t installed the plugin yet, follow the JetFormBuilder Google Sheet Connector PRO Installation Guide before continuing.
Important Notes Before Creating a Service Account
Before creating a Service Account, please check the following requirements.
1. A Google Cloud Project Is Required
You must have a Google Cloud project available. If you do not have one yet, create a new project from the Google Cloud Console first.
2. Enable the Required Google APIs
Make sure the following APIs are enabled in your Google Cloud project.
- Google Sheets API
- Google Drive API
These APIs allow JetFormBuilder Google Sheet Connector PRO to create, access, and manage Google Sheets while syncing your JetFormBuilder submissions.
Once the required APIs are enabled and your Service Account is ready, continue with the Feed Settings Guide to connect your JetFormBuilder forms with Google Sheets.
3. Keep Your Service Account Details Safe
The Service Account credentials are sensitive. Do not share your Service Account JSON file publicly, since it contains authentication details that grant access to your Google services.
4. Share Your Google Sheet With the Service Account Email
After you create the Service Account, Google generates a unique Service Account email address. You need to share your Google Sheet with this email address and grant it the required access, so JetFormBuilder Google Sheet Connector PRO can store form submissions there.
Step 1: Open Google Cloud Console
First, open Google Cloud Console and sign in with your Google account.
After logging in, select the Google Cloud project you want to use for your JetFormBuilder Google Sheet Connector PRO integration.
If you do not have a project yet, create a new Google Cloud project before continuing with the Service Account setup.
Step 2: Navigate to Service Accounts
From the Google Cloud Console dashboard, open the left-side navigation menu.
Go to: IAM and Admin, then Service Accounts
The Service Accounts page lets you create and manage Service Accounts for your selected Google Cloud project.
A Service Account is required because JetFormBuilder Google Sheet Connector PRO uses it to communicate securely with Google Sheets.
Step 3: Create a New Service Account
On the Service Accounts page, click the Create Service Account button.
Google opens the Service Account creation form, where you will enter some basic information about the account.
Step 4: Enter the Service Account Information
In the Service Account creation form, fill in the required details.
Service Account Name
Enter a name that helps you recognize this Service Account later.
Example: JetFormBuilder Sheet Connector Integration
A clear name makes things easier to manage if you handle multiple projects.
Service Account ID
Google generates a Service Account ID automatically based on the name you entered.
You can keep the auto-generated ID or change it if you prefer.
Service Account Description
Add a short description explaining what this Service Account is for.
Example: This Service Account connects JetFormBuilder Google Sheet Connector PRO with Google Sheets.
Once everything is filled in, click Create and Continue.
Step 5: Configure Permissions and Access
After the Service Account details are saved, Google asks you to assign permissions.
These permissions decide what the Service Account is allowed to do inside your Google Cloud project.
Select the access level that matches your Google Cloud setup.
The right permissions make sure JetFormBuilder Google Sheet Connector PRO can communicate properly with Google services and sync your JetFormBuilder submissions to Google Sheets.
Once permissions are set, click Continue.
Step 6: Finish Creating the Service Account
Review the details and permissions, then click Done.
Google finishes the process and your Service Account is created.
Step 7: Create a Service Account JSON Key
On the Service Account details page, open the Keys tab.
You will find the Keys option in the top navigation menu.
Click the Keys tab to create a new JSON key file.
You can also start from here by clicking Add Key, then Create New Key.
Step 8: Select the JSON Key Type
After clicking Create New Key, a popup window appears.
In the Key Type section:
- Select the JSON option
- Click the Create button
Google automatically generates a new Service Account JSON key file.
Step 9: Download the JSON Key File
After clicking Create, your Service Account JSON key file is generated and downloaded to your computer automatically.
This file contains the credentials needed to connect JetFormBuilder Google Sheet Connector PRO with Google Sheets.
Step 10: Enable the Google Sheets API and Google Drive API
Before uploading the JSON key file into the plugin, make sure the required APIs are enabled.
Go to Google Cloud Console, then APIs and Services, then Library.
Search for and enable the following APIs.
- Google Sheets API
- Google Drive API
These APIs allow JetFormBuilder Google Sheet Connector PRO to create, access, and sync data with Google Sheets.
Step 11: Upload the JSON Key File in JetFormBuilder Google Sheet Connector PRO
Log in to your WordPress dashboard and go to JetFormBuilder, then Google Sheet Connector.
Open the integration settings and select the Service Account Method option.
Click Upload JSON File and select the JSON key file you downloaded from Google Cloud Console.
Step 12: Verify the JSON Key Details
After the JSON file uploads successfully:
- The JSON key information appears inside the textarea field at the top.
- Check that the uploaded data looks correct.
Once confirmed, click the Save button.
Step 13: Connect the Service Account With Google Sheets
After you save the JSON key file, JetFormBuilder Google Sheet Connector PRO verifies the Service Account connection.
Once the connection succeeds, your Service Account email address appears, along with a success message.
Step 14: Share Your Google Sheet With the Service Account Email
Open the Google Sheet where you want to store JetFormBuilder submissions.
Click the Share button and add the Service Account email address shown on the plugin integration page.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is a Google Service Account?
A Service Account is a special type of Google account made for applications and servers, not individual people. It allows secure server-to-server communication without needing a Google OAuth login each time.
Do I need a Client ID and Client Secret for the Service Account method?
No. The Service Account method uses a JSON key file instead of an OAuth Client ID and Client Secret. If you prefer connecting with OAuth credentials, follow the Manual Google Authentication Guide.
Why is my Google Sheet not receiving entries?
Check that the Google Sheets API and Google Drive API are enabled, that the JSON file was uploaded correctly, and that the spreadsheet is shared with the Service Account email address. Also verify that your Feed Settings are configured correctly.
Where can I find the Service Account email address?
Open your JSON key file and look for the client_email value. This is the address you need to add to your Google Sheet sharing settings.
Can I use the same Service Account on multiple websites?
Yes. Keep in mind that all sites using the same Service Account will share the same Google Cloud project permissions and API quota.
What should I do if I get a permission denied error?
Confirm that the Google Sheet has been shared with the Service Account email and that Editor access has been granted. If the issue continues, review your Feed Settings to ensure the correct spreadsheet is selected.
Can I regenerate the JSON key file?
Yes. Create a new key from the Service Account Keys section, then upload the new JSON file in the plugin settings and save again.
Is the Service Account method more secure?
Yes. Because it relies on server-to-server authentication instead of manual Google account authorization, it is commonly preferred for production sites and automated integrations.
